Belize
is a diverse and beautiful country that offers numerous archaeological
sites, national parks, marine and nature reserves, wildlife
sanctuaries to explore. It is world famous for its many different
Maya ruins and the scuba diving offered off the shores of
its many Cayes.
Belize is approximately two hours from three different gateways
in the United States (Miami, Houston, and Dallas) and a quick
trip from Mexico.
The island of Ambergris Caye is the most popular tourist destinations
in Belize. The island offers a beautiful and relaxing environment
that is just minutes from dozens of fishing, diving, and snorkeling
sites offshore, including the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and
Shark/Ray Alley. These national parks teem with tropical fish
of every size, color, and description, along with exotic corals,
sponges, and sea fans.
The mainland of Belize is an hour away from Ambergris Caye
by boat or 15 minutes by plane. The mainland boasts many world-renowned
Maya sites, including Altun Ha, Cahal Pech, Caracol, El Pilar,
Lamini, and Xunantunich. The world famous Maya city of Tikal
can be found just over the border in Guatemala. Exploring
these sites and taking in the views from atop are extraordinary
experiences.
There are many other enjoyable inland adventures available
in Belize, including inner tubing or canoeing down jungle
rivers or through underground caves, hiking or horse back
riding in Belize's beautiful jungle forestry, relaxing at
a secluded jungle spa, or visiting the memorable Belize Zoo.
All of these activities are accessible from day trips from
Ambergris Caye, allowing Coco Beach guests to be back in plenty
of time to watch the sunset on their private balcony.
